Specialty coffee scores above 80 SCA points and redefines quality from origin to cup. Discover why it is not a trend but a demanding standard.

What is specialty coffee?

Specialty coffee is defined by scoring 80 or more points out of 100 according to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) criteria. Behind that number lies a philosophy that encompasses cultivation, harvesting, processing, transport and roasting.

At Café Siglo de Oro we select only beans that meet these standards. Each batch is roasted in small quantities to ensure every bag reflects the best possible profile of the origin.

Difference from commercial coffee

Commercial coffee prioritises volume and price. Specialty coffee prioritises flavour, traceability and production conditions. While commodity coffee blends anonymous origins, specialty coffee identifies the farm, variety and process.
